Adding voiceovers

Record narration in sync with your video, import audio, and duck the other audio so your voice stands out.

Voiceovers let you narrate, comment, or add context. Add as many as you need, and break your narration into segments that match different scenes.

A few ways creators use them: reveal what someone on camera is thinking, add a narrator's perspective, or shoot silently and add commentary later. Perfect for libraries, sleeping babies, or anywhere speaking aloud isn't ideal.

Record a voiceover

  1. Open Voiceovers

    On the Shot List, tap Flick Settings, then Voiceovers.

  2. Find the start

    Scrub to the position where you want the voiceover to begin.

  3. Record

    Tap Record and speak clearly into your phone. The video plays while you record, so you can sync your narration to the visuals.

  4. Stop

    Tap Stop when you're done. Recording stops automatically when the video ends.

Import audio

You can bring in existing audio from the Files app. Supported formats are M4A, MP3, WAV, and AIFF.

Position and balance

Drag a voiceover along the timeline, or nudge it for precise timing. Use the volume slider to balance your voiceover against the video's own audio.

Audio ducking

When ducking is on, NanoFlick automatically lowers all the flick's other audio while your voiceover plays, the video's own sound, any music, and any sound effects, so your voice comes through clearly. Raise the ducking amount to make everything else quieter.
