Build your shot list

The shot list is the heart of a template, and the part that does the real work. Each shot tells whoever's filming exactly what to capture and how, so they don't have to plan, guess, or know anything about video. Good guidance here is what turns a blank phone camera into a finished video.

Add and arrange shots

Add as many shots as your story needs, drag them to reorder, and remove the ones you don't want. The order is the order people film in, and the order of the finished video.

What each shot sets

• Name: a short label, like "Wide shot of the room."
• Description: the guidance for whoever's filming, like "Show everyone's faces." This is where most of the value lives: the clearer the prompt, the better the shot you get back.
• Suggested duration: how long the shot should run. NanoFlick nudges the person to wrap around this length, which keeps shots tight and the video moving.
• Camera: rear for the better lens, or front for the selfie camera.
• Transition: how the flick moves into this shot. The editor offers Cut, Dip to Black, Dissolve, Dream, Spin, and the four Wipe directions. Cut is the simplest, and Dissolve blends time. Creators can choose from even more transitions in the app.
• Icon: an emoji or your own image, shown on the shot.
