How to Make a Great Video

The Hook
00:10Tell them why your are uniquely suited to them. Don't tell your whole story...that's a later shot. Just tell them what they'll get from you that they likely won't get from anyone else.

00:10Give them a quick overview of you, and tell a story that shows your experience, IQ, EQ, hustle, passion. Make it personal, charming, impactful. Don't do a list of experience yet...that's later.

Why You're Interested
00:10Explain why you're interested. Show how your personal history, interests or experience led you to exactly this company and opportunity. Share insights about the company, its leadership, its priorities and how you'd help.

Recent Experience
00:10Share the most relevant aspects of your most recent work. Mention RESULTS, not just activities. Don’t give too much detail. Refer them to your printed resume.

Earlier Experience
00:10Discuss any earlier experience in your career. Again, highlight the POSITIVE RESULTS of your work on your employer. Use numbers if you have them.

Top Video Tips
Keep it short...
...then cut it even shorter. Usually under 90 seconds for a serious video; under 30 for a fun one.
Keep it moving
Make sure each shot has a point...and get to it fast! No fluff or filler.
Tell a story
Stories need structure. Make sure you've got a beginning, middle and end.
Know the audience
Family will watch a 2:00 video. Everyone else gets bored after 45 seconds.
Focus on people
Go easy on transitions, filters, etc. The best content is people relating.
Time passages
Use transitions like Dissolve or Dip-to-Black to indicate passage of time
Multiple angles
Using multiple short shots with different angles is better than one longer shot.
Start wide...
...then move closer on subsequent shot for the scene.
