Create Your Own NanoFlick Video Story Templates

Although NanoFlick includes hundreds of templates, our creators are welcome to add their own ideas and outlines to the library.

Creating a New Video Story Template

Templates are created on the web, not in the NanoFlick app. This is because it requires a good bit of typing to make a well-defined template.

Go to https://www.nanoflick.com/video-stories and tap on the person icon on the top right corner. Log in with the same account you use in the NanoFlick app. This is an important detail: it ties the template to your account and allows you to use your new templates immediately in the app.

We suggest reviewing several existing templates in the library to get a feel for how to compose your own. Once you're ready, tap the round + icon in the top right corner and follow the on-screen instructions.

Give your template a meaningful and descriptive name. In the description field, provide suggestions for where to shoot. Select an icon and tag, then begin adding shots.

When you're done, tap Submit at the bottom of the page. Your template is ready for review by NanoFlick. In the meantime, it'll be available only to your account in the NanoFlick app. If it doesn't appear immediately, close the app and restart it.

Editing Your Story Templates

If you decide you'd like to alter one of the templates you've created, go to the template library, log in and find the template you'd like to edit. In the bottom right corner, click the pencil icon to edit it. You can also duplicate or delete your templates using the appropriate buttons.

Customizing A Story Template (not one you made)

If you decide you'd like to alter one of the existing templates in the library, go to the template library, log in and find the template you'd like to edit. In the bottom right corner, click the duplicate icon to create a copy that you can edit and submit.

Tips for Great Video Story Templates

Name — Be clear and concise

Description — Be explicit with some detail for the shot. People appreciate extra guidance: examples, shooting tips, suggested phrases and locations.

Camera Position — Front is the selfie camera; Back is the better lens.

Transition — Best to stick with Cut. Use Dissolve to blend time.

Recording Duration — Keep it shorter than short. In most cases you want the flick to be less than 50 seconds. Individual shorts can be 3–8 seconds, though longer shorts are appropriate for longer narratives, demos & instruction.
