Describe Time/Place
00:05Say where you are and state the time and place. Don't identify yourself if you don't want to. You're not required to give your name or ID (unless driving a car or cops have "reasonable suspicion").

What's Going On
00:08Describe what's going on. Be specific. STAY CALM. DO NOT CURSE OR THREATEN OR CRITICIZE. STICK TO THE FACTS.

Identify Others
00:10Ask others for their name. Ask the police for their name and badge number. Shoot video of their badge and/or nameplate. Be careful of personal space.

Specific Questions
00:10Ask the officer if you're under arrest or if you're free to go. Know that YOU don't have to answer ANY questions. Don't lie.

If You're Detained
00:10Ask what you're being detained for...the specific law. Ask what the "probably cause" is. Ask for a lawyer.
Top Video Tips
Keep it short...
...then cut it even shorter. Usually under 90 seconds for a serious video; under 30 for a fun one.
Keep it moving
Make sure each shot has a point...and get to it fast! No fluff or filler.
Tell a story
Stories need structure. Make sure you've got a beginning, middle and end.
Know the audience
Family will watch a 2:00 video. Everyone else gets bored after 45 seconds.
Focus on people
Go easy on transitions, filters, etc. The best content is people relating.
