Introduce yourself and state the best story hook for someone covering you.
Very briefly, show and explain what the product/service is, and how it benefits customers. Add or import shots (including screen recordings) if necessary, but only show key/core benefits.
Expand on that story hook. Why did you pursue this product, and what's different about it (relative to substitutes & competitors). Flex with your most impressive claim (investor, team, customers, growth, fundraising).
Tell your origin story BRIEFLY, with any humanizing or interesting anecdotes.
Tell your origin story BRIEFLY, with any humanizing or interesting anecdotes. Share 1-2 lessons learned, including conflict, dead-ends and other tribulations.
Give timely detail that make this story relevant RIGHT NOW: funding, product launch, new features, customers or markets.
Ask to discuss further and share more of the story. If you have freebies/discounts for audience, let them know. Then thank them and say goodbye.
Keep it short...
...then cut it even shorter. Usually under 90 seconds for a serious video; under 30 for a fun one.
Keep it moving
Make sure each shot has a point...and get to it fast! No fluff or filler.
Tell a story
Stories need structure. Make sure you've got a beginning, middle and end.
Know the audience
Family will watch a 2:00 video. Everyone else gets bored after 45 seconds.
Focus on people
Go easy on transitions, filters, etc. The best content is people relating.
Time passages
Use transitions like Dissolve or Dip-to-Black to indicate passage of time
Multiple angles
Using multiple short shots with different angles is better than one longer shot.
