NanoFlick — Shot-by-Shot Video Guide
Use this guide to quickly create a video for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
Teach your viewers a dance move for TikTok. Break it down with step-by-step instructions
Shoot each of the shots and keep the duration to the bare minimum. We've included instructions for each shot to create a short, fast-moving video your friends and followers will love. When you're finished shooting, just combine all the shots and you're done.

Introduce yourself and describe what you’ll be teaching today. Don’t demonstrate it yet - that’s in the next shot.
Demonstrate the move at full speed. It’s best to have someone else hold the camera or prop it up so you’re not holding it. You can also import a finished video from your camera roll.
Demonstrate the moves again, this time much slower so they can see how you do it. (You’ll break it down in the next shot).
Now describe each step as you break the moves down into multiple steps. You can add detail with the next shot as well.
Show additional detail or repeat the breakdown. You can add more shots if necessary.
Now put it all together and repeat the technique at low speed, then medium, then full speed. Describe a bit more detail as you go.
Thank the viewer, encourage them to watch the video a few times and try it themselves.
Keep it short...
...then cut it even shorter. Usually under 90 seconds for a serious video; under 30 for a fun one.
Keep it moving
Make sure each shot has a point...and get to it fast! No fluff or filler.
Tell a story
Stories need structure. Make sure you've got a beginning, middle and end.
Know the audience
Family will watch a 2:00 video. Everyone else gets bored after 45 seconds.
Focus on people
Go easy on transitions, filters, etc. The best content is people relating.
Time passages
Use transitions like Dissolve or Dip-to-Black to indicate passage of time
Multiple angles
Using multiple short shots with different angles is better than one longer shot.
