Create and manage brand kits
Create your first brand kit, add your branding piece by piece, set a default, and manage the kits your team uses.
A brand kit packages the branding for your organization, a product, a client, or a campaign. It can include elements like a watermark, intro and outro video clips, music, and more. Kits are applied to your story templates, and when a video maker shoots from that template, the branding carries through automatically. Video makers can even apply different brand kits in the app to share the same video project with multiple brand kit looks.
Brand kits live in the dashboard, on the Brand Kits page, where owners and admins build them; members can view a kit but not edit it. Brand kits come with the Team plan and up.
Create your first kit
On the Brand Kits page, select Create brand kit (or Create your first kit if you don't have one yet) and give it a name your team will recognize, like a brand or a campaign. That's all it takes to start: the kit opens in the editor, where you fill in the rest.
The editor autosaves as a draft while you work, so nothing you're trying out reaches your team until you Publish. Publishing, and how your changes reach templates and flicks that already use the kit, is covered in Managing brand kit versions.
Add your branding
A kit is a set of optional pieces: include only what you want, and anything you leave out falls back to NanoFlick's defaults, so a kit never has to be "complete" to be useful. The editor groups the pieces into tabs and opens on Essentials, the ones most kits use:
- Watermark: a small overlay anchored to every shot.
- Endslate: an image shown briefly after the last shot.
- Logo and template icon (Identity tab): a logo for the kit, and a default icon for templates that use it.
- Brand colors (Identity tab): your Primary, Secondary, and Accent colors, used in caption and title styling.
- Caption and text-title styling (Captions and Text Titles tabs): the look of spoken-word captions and of the text blocks creators add to shots, including fonts, colors, and backgrounds like speech bubbles.
- Share tags (Identity tab): the @handles and #hashtags that travel with flicks shared from templates using the kit.
- Author Credit (Identity tab): who gets credited by default on templates that use the kit.
Studio: motion and music
Brand Kit Studio adds the moving and sounding pieces, on Business plans and up:
- Intro and outro clips that bookend the flick.
- A video endslate in place of a still image.
- Background music that plays under the whole flick.
Intros and outros start and end the flick by default, but they aren't locked there. In the template editor, an author can drag either one to sit after any shot, so a kit's clips double as a way to drop in pre-recorded footage such as b-roll, an insert, or a product demo, anywhere in the story.
On the Team plan these show up as an upgrade in the Studio tab rather than editable slots, so you can see what they would add. Anything you set up stays with the kit if you upgrade later.
Add and manage assets
Your logos, watermarks, endslates, intro and outro clips, music, and icons live in one shared asset library, so a kit points to them instead of holding its own copies. You can add an asset two ways:
- At a slot in the editor: drop a file onto a slot, or pick one, and it takes that role (watermark, endslate, and so on). NanoFlick reads the orientation from the file.
- In the asset library (Brand Kits → Asset library): upload in bulk, choosing each file's role as you go. This page is your full inventory.
Archive an asset you aren't using and it leaves the pickers but is kept, so kits that already use it keep working and you can restore it later. An asset that's in use can't be deleted until you remove it from those kits.
Set a default, archive, and restore
Each kit's ⋯ menu on the Brand Kits page holds its management actions:
- Set as default: the default kit is applied automatically to new templates and new flicks.
- Duplicate: start a new kit from an existing one.
- Archive and Reactivate: archive a kit you aren't using to free a slot. Its assets are kept and you can reactivate it later; archived kits don't appear in pickers.
- Version history and Auto-apply updates, both covered in Managing brand kit versions.
Your plan sets how many active kits you can keep: Team includes two, Business includes five (both with add-ons available), and Enterprise is unlimited. If you downgrade past your limit, the oldest kits are archived automatically until you fit, and nothing is deleted.
Advanced options
A few controls worth knowing once you're past your first kit:
- Watermark size and opacity (Watermark tab): scale it from 15% to 30% of the frame and set opacity from 40% to 100%, with a live preview.
- Color source (Captions and Text Titles tabs): point a color at your Primary, Secondary, or Accent brand color, choose a Custom color, or leave it on the app default. Anything set to a brand color updates when you change that color.
- Editing policy (Identity tab, under Author Credit): choose whether members can change the Author Credit on individual templates (Members can change) or not (Locked). Owners, admins, and NanoFlick staff always bypass the lock.
- Per-kit auto-apply: override your organization's auto-apply setting for a single kit from its ⋯ menu (see Managing brand kit versions).
Who can do what
- Owners and admins build, publish, and manage kits, and upload assets.
- Members can open a kit to see its branding, but not edit it.
- Buying add-on kit slots or upgrading the plan is the owner's to do.
